Intel® Remote Wake Technology (Intel® RWT)
What is Intel® Remote Wake Technology?

Intel® Remote Wake Technology available on Intel® 4 series chipset based platforms enables remote wake up of your home computer from energy efficient sleep mode by enabled programs over the Internet.

When you set up an Intel Remote Wake Technology enabled program or service, you are prompted to use Intel Remote Wake Technology. When you enable Intel Remote Wake Technology, you can use programs or services to wake your computer from sleep mode.

While outside your home, with an Intel Remote Wake Technology enabled program, you can wake up your computer. Upon the PC awakening, you can access photos, music, movies, and documents through third party enabled programs. Using enabled programs, your computer can also wake up for backup or tune up services, VoIP calls as well as a variety of other uses.

In addition to the enabled programs Intel Remote Wake Technology also installs an applet that can be used to manage access settings to the PC. You can find Intel Remote Wake Technology applet in the Control Panel, if you want to make changes to its settings:

  • On allows programs you select to wake your computer.
  • Off blocks all programs from waking your computer.

You can also allow or block individual programs from waking your computer and view an activity log that shows programs that recently woke your computer.

Not all programs can use Intel Remote Wake Technology. Check your program’s documentation to determine if it supports Intel Remote Wake Technology.

Note: If you turn off Intel Remote Wake Technology, power settings are not reverted back to previous settings. To change your power settings, go to the Power Options in Control Panel.
